[Q] md5sum file ?? good for nothing file topic

i use 4ext recovery touch and love to get new custom roms for my sensation xe AKA "pyramid" but what's keeps bugging me is this md5 file that comes with the Rom file i flash the rom with no errors ..... so WTF is this file for ??
